Generate from the Media Library and block editor

Per-image generate and regenerate buttons, the status column, and the image block panel.

Beyond automatic and bulk generation, you can generate alt text one image at a time, right where you work.

1

The Media Library column

In the Media Library list view, an Alt Text column shows each image's status: *AI Generated*, *Has Alt*, *Missing*, *Processing*, or *Failed* (hover a failure to see why). Each row has a Generate or Regenerate button.

2

Filter and bulk actions

Use the All alt text dropdown to filter by *Missing alt text*, *Has alt text*, *AI generated*, or *Generation failed*. The bulk-actions menu adds Generate Alt Text (Alt Text Studio) and Regenerate Alt Text (Alt Text Studio).

3

The block editor

Select an image block and click the Alt Text Studio button in the block toolbar to Generate alt text (or Regenerate alt text). The block's inspector panel on the right shows the generation status, the credit cost, and, if you generate more than one language, an editable list of translations with a Make primary button per language.

When auto-generate is on, the editor shows a notice that alt text will be created for you, so you usually do not need to click anything.
