Install the Shopify app
Add Alt Text Studio to your Shopify store and find your way around it.
Alt Text Studio runs inside your Shopify admin as an embedded app. It reads your product images, writes alt text back to Shopify, and draws on the same account and credits as the web app. For a feature overview, see the Shopify app page.
Install from the Shopify App Store
Search the Shopify App Store for Alt Text Studio and click Install. Shopify will ask you to approve the access the app needs: reading your products and files, and writing alt text and translations back to them.
Open it from your admin
Once installed, Alt Text Studio appears under Apps in your Shopify admin sidebar. Everything happens inside Shopify — there is no theme code to paste and nothing to install on your storefront.
Find your way around
The app has five pages in its sidebar:
- Home — credits, current plan, quick start, and recent activity.
- Products — browse your catalog and work on one product at a time.
- Bulk generate — find every product image missing alt text and process the lot.
- Settings — generation defaults and Shopify-specific behavior.
- Connection — link or unlink your Alt Text Studio account.
Next: connect your account
Before anything can generate, the app needs an API key from your Alt Text Studio account. See Connect your Alt Text Studio account.
