Connect your Alt Text Studio account
Paste an API key on the Connection page so the app can generate on your account.
The Shopify app generates through your Alt Text Studio account, so it needs an API key. Create the key in the web app, paste it into the Connection page, and the store is linked.
Create an API key
Sign in to Alt Text Studio and open API Keys under My Account. Click Create API Key and name it after your store so you can recognize it later. Copy the key — it starts with ats_ and you only see it in full once. New accounts start with 25 free credits.
Paste it into the app
In your Shopify admin, open Apps → Alt Text Studio → Connection, paste the key into the API key field, and click Save API key. The app checks the key with our service straight away and shows which account is linked once it succeeds.
Switch accounts or unlink
The Connection page shows the linked account and a Disconnect button. Disconnecting removes the stored key immediately; paste a different key to link the store to another account. One store is linked to one account at a time.
If a key is rejected
A key that was revoked or mistyped comes back as *"That API key was rejected."* Create a fresh key in API Keys and paste that instead. Settings you have already saved are kept — only the key changes.
