Cookie Policy

How we use cookies and similar technologies on Alt Text Studio.

Last updated: August 26, 2026

This Cookie Policy ("Policy") explains how Alt Text Studio ("we," "us," "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on alttextstudio.com and in the Alt Text Studio app embedded in Shopify admin (the "Service" ). It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy .

By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1) What cookies are

Cookies are small text files stored on your device by a website. Cookies can be first-party (set by Alt Text Studio) or third-party (set by other services we use). We may also use similar technologies such as localStorage and sessionStorage (together, "cookies and similar technologies").

2) Cookies we use and why

A. Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are required for the Service to work and cannot be turned off in our systems. They help with core functions like secure login and session management.

Common examples in many web applications include:

  • Session cookies: used to maintain your login session and keep the Service working as you navigate.
  • Security/CSRF-related cookies: used to help protect the Service from fraudulent or unauthorized requests.
  • Embedded Shopify app: when you open the Alt Text Studio app inside your Shopify admin, cookies and similar storage are used to keep that embedded session authenticated. They are required for the app to load and work, and no analytics cookies run there.

We may also use related security cookies to detect abuse and keep the Service secure.

B. Functional / preference storage

We may store certain preferences to improve your experience, such as:

  • Remembering display preferences (e.g., light mode / dark mode )
  • Remembering certain user choices

These preferences may be stored in your account settings (server-side) and/or locally in your browser using cookies or similar technologies (like localStorage), depending on how the feature is implemented.

C. Third-party cookies and similar technologies

Some third-party services we use may place cookies or use similar technologies to provide their functionality, such as:

  • Google OAuth (Sign in with Google)
  • Stripe (payment processing and fraud prevention)
  • Shopify (running our embedded app in your Shopify admin, and billing subscriptions started there)

These third parties handle information according to their own privacy policies and terms.

D. Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use Alt Text Studio — for example, which pages are viewed and how features are used — so we can improve the Service. Google Analytics sets cookies (such as _ga and _ga_* ) to distinguish visitors and sessions.

Analytics cookies are off by default and only load if you choose "OK" in our cookie banner, or turn on "Analytics" and save in . You can change your choice at any time. We use Google's Consent Mode, which signals your choice to Google Analytics before it stores anything on your device. Your analytics choice is separate from the advertising choice described below.

E. Advertising cookies

We advertise Alt Text Studio on search engines. If you allow advertising cookies, Google Ads may set cookies (such as _gcl_* ) so we can tell which ads led people to sign up. We use this only to measure whether our advertising works — we do not sell your data, and we do not show ads to you on Alt Text Studio.

Advertising cookies are off by default and only load if you choose "OK" in our cookie banner, or turn on "Advertising" and save in . You can accept analytics without accepting advertising, or reject both. Google's Consent Mode signals your choice before anything is stored, and while advertising is declined we also switch on Google's ad-data redaction, so ad click identifiers are stripped from the requests we send.

3) How to control cookies

The easiest way to control analytics and advertising cookies on Alt Text Studio is through our cookie consent banner or , which lets you accept, reject, or change each choice independently at any time.

You can also manage cookies through your browser settings, including:

  • Deleting cookies
  • Blocking cookies
  • Blocking third-party cookies

If you disable cookies, some parts of the Service may not work properly (for example, logging in or staying logged in).

4) Updates to this Cookie Policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version and revise the "Last updated" date.
