Install the Chrome extension and sign in
Add Alt Text Studio to Chrome and connect it to your account to generate alt text anywhere on the web.
The Alt Text Studio Chrome extension generates alt text for images on any website without leaving the page. Install it once, sign in with the same account you use on the web app, and your saved defaults and credits come with you. For an overview of everything it does, see the Chrome extension page.
Install from the Chrome Web Store
Open the Alt Text Studio listing on the Chrome Web Store and click Add to Chrome, then Add extension. Pin it to your toolbar so the icon is always one click away.
Open the popup and sign in
Click the Alt Text Studio toolbar icon to open the popup. Enter your account Email and Password and click Sign In, or click Sign in with Google. No account yet? Use the No account? Sign up free link, which opens the sign-up page.
Permissions it asks for
Chrome lists the permissions the extension needs. In plain terms: read the current tab to find images and show results, save your sign-in and settings, add the right-click menu, sign in with Google, and show notifications.
You're ready to generate
Once signed in, the popup shows your credit balance and the generation tools. See Generate alt text with the Chrome extension for every way to create alt text, and Chrome extension settings and defaults to tune the output.
